bahaAward winning gospel wonderkid Kevin Bahati just can’t stop making headlines.

After his much talked about performance over the weekend during the Jubilee Party launch, the singer on Sunday September 11 brought Mathare to a standstill.

Bahati was in Vietnam area of the slums for a video shoot of his upcoming song, when a mammoth crowd gathered to welcome him back home.

However, the welcome was not all rosy after reports emerged that the hitmaker got in trouble with angry youth from the area after they accused him of using the slum to benefit himself without giving back to the society.

According to word on the streets, the youths stole Bahati’s shoes and a phone while a video camera was also damaged in the incident.

Fellow singer Weezdom, who accompanied Bahati to Mathare denied the reports.

“You know Bahati is appreciated and approved by many. So when sections of Mathare youth saw him, they mobbed around him in excitement. It is not true that he lost his possessions. Actually, the shoot went on successfully and our new song will be released later this month. We finished our shoot around 5pm Sunday,” Weezdom told eDaily.

Bahati posted to Facebook a video showing his stroll through the slums.

He captioned it, “4 Years ago I used to Walk through this Slum #MATHARE as a Useless Kid… But Watch this about Today Streets Stand Still !!! Glory to GOD***YOUR LOVE TOWARDS ME AS YOUR SON HAS BEEN HEARD BY THE WORLD ?”
