Nairobi senator Mike Sonko has endorsed current Kiambu governor William Kabogo to retain his seat, at the expense of gubernatorial hopeful Ferdinand Waititu.
The controversial senator over the weekend joined Mr Kabogo for a public rally at Gitothua High School, Ruiru Constituency, where he warned Kiambu voters against electing the Kabete MP describing him as a hooligan and a thief.
“Kuna jamaa mwingine wa mawe. Muulize ni nini kilimtorosha Nairobi. Wale watu walimpigia kura anaanza kuwapiga na mawe. Tafadhalini, msidanganywe. Huyo ni tapeli atauza kila kitu hapa Kiambu mpaka makaburi. Ataiba mpaka masoko,” he said.
Loosely translated to: “There is this stone thrower. Ask him why he left Nairobi. He stoned the people who voted for him. Please, don’t be fooled. He is a fraud who will sell everything in Kiambu including graveyards. He will steal your markets.”
Sonko’s sentiments come after Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu endorsed Eugene Wamalwa for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
The senator further accused Waititu of being a murderer and chasing political seats of dead politicians.
“Kuna matapeli wengine tumefukuza kule Nairobi kwa sababu ya utapeli na wizi. Hata wameua wabunge wengine ndio wapate kuchaguliwa.
(There are some conmen we have chased away from Nairobi because of their activities. They have even killed other MPs so they can be elected)
In the rally, Kabogo endorsed Mike Sonko for Nairobi governor.
