Police on Sunday arrested a pregnant teenager for allegedly killing her husband with a kitchen knife.
Alice Muthoni, 15, stabbed 28 year old Kamau Njoroge at their home in Ngwata estate.
Mr Kamau, a boda boda operator had reportedly screamed for help before he succumbed to the fatal stab.
Area chief David Kilonzo, confirmed the incident saying the man’s colleagues attempted to invade the house in an attempt to lynch the suspect, but she locked herself inside until police arrived and rescued her.
Athi River OCPD Sharma Wario said Mr Kamau and Alice, a Form Two drop out, lived together as man and wife.
“Kamau came to the house at around 5pm and was shortly after heard screaming for help,”said Mr Wario as quoted by Nairobi News.
He added that Kamau was found lying on the floor with a knife stuck in his chest, by neighbours who rushed to his rescue.
Police were forced to launch teargas canisters to disperse angry bodaboda operators who wanted to beat up the girl.
“When we got to the scene, angry bodaboda operators had already surrounded the house where the wife had locked herself inside and were threatening to beat her up. My officers were forced to use force to save the lady,” said Mr Wario.
The girl is being held at Mlolongo police station waiting to be taken to court.
The body of the deceased was taken to Machakos Level 5 Hospital.
