Former Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Archbishop, Eliud Wabukala, has turned down by proposal by a section of Jubilee leaders to take over the IEBC chairman position.
Speaking to Radio Citizen on Tuesday, Wabukala, who retired as the head of ACK in June this year, said his focus remains on religious activities.
“I am okay with the work I am doing now, my role is to pray for the country,” Wabukala said.
He added that he has not yet been consulted on the issue.
“I am yet to be consulted on this issue by any leader or politician, but my stand is that I am not interested in the job.”
The retired religious leader was ‘endorsed’ by Jubilee legislators led by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Sunday.
“Jubilee will support Archbishop Eliud Wabukala to be the next Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman. We want elections to be managed by religious leaders,” said Moses Kuria at a function held at the Pan Paper grounds in Lugari.
