The pregnant policewoman whose photo with tear gas canisters draped over her neck went viral on social media, has received a surprise baby shower.
Stationed at Pangani Police Station, Police Constable Agatha Wairimu got the surprise party from aspiring Nairobi Women Representative Millicent Omanga on Tuesday at the station.
The party was held in an office usually used for taking statements from suspects and witnesses. Agatha’s female colleagues also joined in the surprise.
The elated constable received baby presents including a pram, a baby cot and other gifts from the aspirant who was accompanied by her friends.
Omanga said she appreciated Agatha for helping quell the chaos at Pangani police station saying it was not easy for her in her condition.
“This is just a gesture to appreciate our female police officers. This officer has done us proud and showed us that women put in a lot of effort to their work,” Omanga said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
Constable Agatha graduated from the Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo in 2009. While serving as a police officer, she enrolled for an undergraduate degree at the Egerton University.
She graduated last year June with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology – Forensic Investigations and hopes to enroll for masters next year after delivery.
The due date of her first child is estimated to be in September.
