sonko kideroThe Senate’s Public Accounts Committee was this morning disrupted after Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and Governor Evans Kidero engaged in a physical fight.

According to Nation, it started with a verbal exchange when Sonko accused Kidero of murder.

The committee was forced to adjourn abruptly.

Sonko had appeared as a ‘friend of the committee’, to table documents on land rates in Nairobi. He termed them illegal.

Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong’are interjected the Nairobi senator’s presentation saying he was not backed by evidence.

“Sonko, you cannot intimidate anyone here. The issues are extraneous and can be prosecuted elsewhere not in this venue.” Mong’are told Sonko.

Sonko in turn told him to take his ‘nonsense’ to his own county. What followed was a bitter verbal exchange and then Sonko banged the table saying Mong’are had been bribed by Kidero.

Sonko then claimed that Kidero and his Chief of Staff were involved in the eviction and murder of a woman in Nairobi.

“He is a murderer and I cannot withdraw that. I have video clips to prove that and I have no apologies to make.” he shouted.

It is at this point that Kidero threw a punch at Sonko.

The governor said he would return to the committee when the environment was conducive.
