A security drill at the Strathmore University Business School turned tragic after several students were left injured.
According to early reports on Monday, three students were injured, one of them critically. The casualties were moved to the Mater hospital and Nairobi West Hospitals.
Many students tried to leave the through windows while others tried to cross a swollen stream to safety. Gunshots were heard from different parts of the institution which made scared student scamper to safety.
The drill was coordinated by Administration Police officers, without the knowledge of officers at the Lang’ata police station who were only informed as it got underway. The drill was meant to gauge preparedness in case of a terror attack.
Nairobi Police chief Japheth Koome however, said that all protocols were followed in the drill.
