kiuna1When it comes to religion and running a successful church empire, the Kiunas reign supreme in the country. Besides their prosperous venture in spreading the gospel, the couple also pride themselves in having quite a loving and charming relationship.

On Thursday, there were celebrating two very important milestones in their lives. Bishop Allan Kiuna was turning a year older, which also happens to be their 21st marriage anniversary.

Over 21 years ago, the two met in an interesting way as revealed by Kathy Kiuna in a previous interview.

“He was at a phone booth, having a conversation with his mother (that’s what he told me!), and I passed by on my way to church. He told his mum to hang on a sec, then called out to me, asking me to give him a minute as he wanted to speak to me. The only reason I stopped was because he had called me by my name. After ending his conversation with his mum, he told me straight up that he wanted to get to know me and asked if he could buy me lunch.

I turned him down, saying I was busy. I was in fact busy as I was headed to join the praise and worship team for the lunch time service. But this did not deter him and he pursued me relentlessly.

On our first date he made it clear that he wanted to get married. That was in January. By December the same year I said ‘I do’, and became Mrs Kiuna. I was 25 and he was 27.”

And to celebrate that tremendous love story and the man of her life, Reverend Kathy Kiuna took to social media to pen sweet birthday and anniversary messages.

She wrote, “The easiest thing I ever did was not falling in love with you. It’s been staying in love with you ever since. Happy birthday BishopKiuna and I love you sooooo much!!!,” adding, “Happy bday my boo. I thank God for the day I met you. Happy anniversary. Marrying you was the best gift God could give to me. Decades later I feel like I only met you yesterday. You still give me goosebumps and make my baby leap. I love you now more than when I first met you.”
