I think it would be well within its right to declare that Sauti Sol is in a class of its own. Meeting Obama and having him dance to their jam ‘Sura Yako’, may have seemed like the epitome of the band’s high flying music career, but it keeps getting better and better.
Over the weekend, the lads performed at the Global Citizen Festival in New York alongside international acts such as; Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, ColdPlay, Pearl Jam, Common. Together with other African acts namely; Ice Prince, Toofan, Rebecca Acheampong aka Becca, and others, Sauti Sol represented Kenya and Africa on the global platform.

For Sauti Sol, the trip had more in store for them. They were invited to perform at an exclusive dinner at the Hudson Hotel, hosted by Billionaire businessman and founder of Virgin Group, Richard Branson. Just like Obama, Richard too showed off his dance moves to ‘Sura Yako.’
Sauti Sol also met other A list public figures such as, ‘Scandal’ actress Kerry Washington, Coldplay’s Chris Martin who invited them to perform at the Festival, Dr. Bill Gates and his wife Melinda Gates, R&B crooner Usher, and Hip Hop mogul Jay Z – with whom Savara Mudigi talked about music business and entrepreneurship.
