When our government wants to build a road where your house is, there’s really not much you can do. They compensate you for your land but most often the amount is way less than the market value.

China is not famous for its respect for civil rights, but apparently, you do have a say when it comes to road construction. Below we look at a few cases of homeowners who refused to budge, leaving the contractor no option but to build around them.
