djLocal DJs can now rest easy following the move by management organizations PRISK and KAMP to suspend the implementation of the reproduction licence indefinitely.

The joint KAMP-PRISK board reached the decision to allow for consultations and negotiations.

However, djs will still have to pay for the CTP licence for them to continue playing or using local music productions for commercial purposes.

“We are working very closely with the organisations representing the deejay in order to come up with an agreeable way of executing these regulations. It was just a small misunderstanding and we are not bulldozing anybody to pay for the licences. But we are implementing this for the common good of the industry,” Prisk chairman Robert “RKay” Kamanzi said.
