There is a new advert on Kenyan television that has left a lot of viewers thoroughly unimpressed. The WPP-Scan Group commercial features comedians Churchill and Eric Omondi who are seemingly having a very long and tiring conversation before getting to the point.
The commercial has seen media mogul Terryanne Chebet come out to blast the ad as ‘the worst thing she ever saw.’ Terryanne who knows a thing or two about advertising and branding as the founder of Scarlet Digital, a digital branding and social media agency, feels the commercial did not address the consumer needs.
The advert is basically about a name change and merger of two marketing and public relations companies Scangroup, and Wire & Plastics Products (WPP) to become WPP-ScanGroup.
She posted on the gram: “Advertising is dead! Mad respect to Churchill and Omondi, but this is hands down the worst thing I ever saw. When did we forget that advertising is all about the consumer conversation and not brands anymore? If Kenya’s best came up with with this, we are sunk!”
Do you think she has a point?
