On Tuesday, the world marked the Day of the African child. The day was created by the African Union to commemorate the massacre of hundreds of children in Soweto, South Africa.

Rapper Octopizzo, who has cut a niche for himself in societal matters, was one of the few Kenyan public figures who joined in the bandwagon. The rapper took time off his schedule to spend time with some African school kids. While at it, the Namba nane rapper used the opportunity to voice some words of wisdom.

He posted: “You have never really lived until you can do something for someone who can never repay you Today being the #DayoftheAfricanChild (DAC) All over the World, Let us be the ones who say we do not accept that a child dies every three seconds simply because he/she does not have the drugs you a& I have. Let us be the ones to say we are not satisfied that your place of birth determines your right to life. Let us be outraged, let us be loud, let us be bold. Take a moment and remember all the children we’ve lost through war, diseases, poverty etc and stand for a future of a Child”

He went on to offer some sound advice on parenting saying: “#DayoftheAfricanChild Don’t just teach your children to read. Teach them to question what they read. The attitude that you have as a parent is what your kids will learn from, more than what you tell them. They don’t remember what you try to teach them. They remember what you are.”
