It’s happening. East Africa’s largest Mall (at least for the next few months) – Garden City is opening its doors this Thursday. The massive mall will bring new life to Ruaraka and that area of Thika Road, as well as competition to the popular Thika Road Mall.
According to Actis Director Michael Turner, 50% of the tenants are ready to open on Thursday, and this includes the anchor tenants Game Supermarket and Nakumatt.
“Phase one of the mall is almost fully leased, and we’re expecting more than 50 percent of our retail tenants to be ready to open with us on the May 28, including our anchor tenants, Game and Nakumatt. We are very excited to be able to open our doors and invite everyone inside to start shopping, and to begin growing our Garden City community,” said Michael Turner.
The fact that the mall has two supermarkets just tells you its size. The first phase of the mall will consist of 33,000 square metres of retail space including 120 local and international brands spread across three levels.
Game and Nakumatt will take the ground floor, alongside Tile and Carpet Centre and Victoria Courts.
It was always going to be tricky for shoppers coming from Nairobi to go all the way to Roysambu flyover, leave TRM right there, then take the service lane towards town to access Garden City. So the county government made the service lane from Garden Estate overpass to be two way.
Well, here’s what you can expect from Thursday.
