Former Mathioya MP and powerful KANU era politician JJ Kamotho is dead at 72.

Kamotho was a close Moi ally who served in several ministerial offices, among them Trade, Education and Environment and Natural Resources. He was also KANU’s Secretary General. Kamotho as also remembered as one of the survivals of the 1998 bomb blast in Nairobi. He was hosting the ambassador in his 16th floor Cooperative House office when the bomb went off.

He was born on 5th December 1942.

It is reported that the politician died in a South African hospital. Details are sketchy, but we’ll be giving more updates on this story.
