Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been left red-faced after she mistakenly congratulated the disease malaria for winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
In fact, it was Pakistani campaigner Malala Yousufzai who was given the joint honour yesterday – becoming, at 17, the youngest person ever to take the prize.
Though most assumed Campbell’s mistake was down to autocorrect, others still appeared to be upset by the error – which prompted “malaria” to trend on Twitter.
Campbell herself has been involved in several charitable projects, including Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Fun.
She recently joined the UN Women for Peace March earlier this year to campaign for an end to violence against women.
