South Sudan government on Tuesday ordered all foreign workers to vacate the country by October. It was a very unexpected decision, considering that most of the big businesses are managed by Kenyans.
Take for example KCB bank. It is South Sudan’s largest bank both by customers and branch network. At some point, it was said to be functioning as the country’s central bank. I doubt there are enough South Sudanese to run it at the top level.
The same applies to Equity bank and many other Kenyan businesses. You should expect a run down of previously vibrant companies.
Perhaps to elaborate whey they are not ready to take up all sectors, lets look at this newspaper advert.
Not that this form of ass licking and wastage of public resources on needless newspaper adverts does not happen in Kenya, but it tells the story of a less civilized society.
