Addressing a news conference last week, nominated Senator Beth Mugo and MPs Dennis Waweru (Dagorreti South) and Njenga Kigo (Gatundu North) accused Cord of a plot to incite Kenyans against one another. Mugo accused the opposition of trying to ascend to the leadership of the country through unconstitutional means. “Going by their utterances, it is clear Cord is only interested in ascending to power through unconstitutional means. While Cord leaders have indicated that Raila’s homecoming rally will be peaceful, we suspect the rally could end up in chaos as was witnessed during the aborted ODM party elections at Kasarani,” she said.
Waweru expressed concern over the remarks by Cord leaders, adding that impeaching a President is not done at funerals and markets but it is a process that they ought to follow. “We are not scared of them, as Jubilee we are ready to face them head on.Cord should know their role and stop politicking,” he said.
