Iyke had been cast as the lead character in the movie adapted from the popular series of crime thriller novels authored by John Kiriamiti. Apparently, Iyke who has a remarkable reputation as an actor was dropped by the production company due to “budget cuts”. The choice of casting according to the movie producer, Niel Schell, was to “get marketable people to act in the movie. This makes it easy to sell it to the wider African market and beyond.”
Jim Iyke on his part defended his capacity to play the role by saying: “I’m ready to give every stretch and attention needed to play the role. I can assure you that I’m fully aware of what I have to do. I will spend time with friends I have met in Kibera and also spend time with John Kiriamiti. I will totally spread myself.”
Screen writer, Serah Mwihaki echoed Niel Schell sentiments by saying: “Budget needed to be slashed a lot and filming has been pushed to get an actor who won’t cost as much,” Mwihaki said.
