juliMtaa Challenge is  part of Juliani’s  “KAMA SI SISI” attitude change campaign created two years ago, that gears at using music and creative space through young people, aiming at making their surrounding better than they found it. The challenge creates a series of mechanisms for youth to “get organized” in their own neighborhoods for a period of 5 weeks. The two-month competition that started in March, targeted young people; empowering them to be more responsible and accountable to themselves and their community.
Telecommunication service provider Orange joined hands with the celebrated hip-hop artiste Juliani to support this year’s Mtaa Challenge competition. More than 1,300 young people from across Kenya signed up for the challenge’s second season, from which 15 teams of a minimum 15 members each representing different neighborhoods across the country were created.
Magneta Group from Kayole were the winner of the second edition. The group received KSh100,000 as seed investment for their initiative, a modern library for students to study. The second and third groups received KSh 75,000 and KSh 50,000 respectively as seed funding.
