This was definitely a first.
I’ve been to quite a few presidential functions and I have never witnessed the tarmac getting washed in readiness for his arrival. Perhaps the dusty sections are sprinkled on water, but scouring of the road is definitely a first.
Prophet Owuor was in Eldoret over the weekend, and to prepare for his arrival, hundreds of his followers embarked on a exercise to clean, I mean, scrub streets in Eldoret town. Using soap, water and brushes, they literally brought business to a stand still.

“We are doing it for the man of God. We believe in God who uses him to speak to the world,” said one of the followers.
Thousands had camped in the town, booking all hotel rooms, perhaps hoping  for a ‘front row seat’ at the prophet’s crusade. They had come from all over the world.
Owuor finally made his way to the town on Friday evening, led by police outriders and followed by several police trucks. His entourage took over both lanes of the road. On Saturday, he made a triumphant entry into the stadium accompanied by Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Kiprotich and Kapseret Constituency MP Oscar Sudi and a contingent of security chiefs.
Of course he could not conclude the service without taking a swipe at Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
“This time there will be no prayer because the glory of the Lord is already here and therefore people will just be healed because that is what the Lord told me…. I think we should stop giving out the soda first before hearing the miracle, lest they say we are giving them energisers,” he said.
Bishop Wanjiru had accused Owuor of using energisers to fake miracles.
