lydia1A bartender in Nairobi’s Pangani area is accusing former Tahidi high actress Lydia Nyambura Githachu of gross misconduct. Lydia played Teacher Chebii in the Citizen TV high school drama.
James Michuria Mwaniki, claims Lydia peed on herself at his premises after having one too many on Valentine’s day. He also accuses the actress of character assassination after Lydia reported him to the police for attempted rape.
I got so angry at her behavior, and I slapped her. She then panicked at the thought of news of her misbehavior spreading throughout the neighbourhood and fabricated a lie that I wanted to rape her,” James told The Nairobian.
Lydia in her defence claims James had made clear his ill intentions from the moment she stepped into the pub.
He had made his intentions clear from the moment I stepped into the pub from my karaoke gig in Kitengela. He told me leo ni mimi na wewe Chebii. True to his word, he locked the bar when everyone left,” said Lydia.
The actress however did not deny peeing on herself saying she did it to disgust James.
I was very scared, and had to find a way to defend myself. I broke two beer bottles but he kept coming closer. I peed on myself so as to disgust him and buy time. Luckily, my cell phone dropped on the floor, and that’s when I called the bar owner to come and rescue me,” Lydia revealed.
James has since paid Sh 30,000 as compensation for slapping the actress. He however questions why Lydia had to wait for three days to report if she is telling the truth.
If indeed I wanted to rape her, then why did she continue drinking even after all the drama? Why did she have to wait for three days so as to report the case to the police?” said the barman.
