Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua yesterday unveiled 70 ambulances and 10 motorbikes for his county. The ceremony was held at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos town.
Mutua has this week come under scrutiny from the Auditor General’s office, for alleged misappropriation of public funds. He however brushed that aside, saying that he will not stop working for his people.
The governor only last week officially opened Machakos People’s Park; a move that cemented his spot as Kenya’s top performing governor.
The new ambulances have cost Sh125 million or roughly Sh1.78 million per van. This is down from the Sh140 million budgeted for.
