Raphael Tuju – I Did Not Post on Daily Nation’s Lonely Heart Column

February 13, 2014

tuju1Former cabinet minister Raphael Tuju has come out to distance himself from a dating column post portraying him as looking for a love partner. Mr Tuju wants the police to act accordingly and bring this impersonator behind bars.
The post was in Saturday Nation’s Lonely Hearts column in which someone by his name was seeking women interested in marriage. He wrote that they should reach him through his mobile phone or send a text message. The man described himself as a separated 53 year old who was looking for someone better.
“Tuju is a 53 year old separated man. Whenever God asks you to give something up, He is never trying to take that thing away. He is trying to get something better for you. I am here ready,” read the post.
Incidentally, Raphael Tuju is 53 and separated.
He is seeking to divorce his wife of 27 years, Ruth Akinyi, in a case filed last year. The former minister cited violence against him and his children and infidelity by his wife with a former General Service Unit officer Anthony Ogunda, who has since passed on in unclear circumstances.
Responding to the post which closely describes him with regards to his matrimonial troubles, Tuju said he is not crazy.
“That is not my number. I am not crazy. It is a police case that somebody should register a sim card in my name. You should investigate who used my identity to register that sim card,” Tuju told Nairobi News.
Tuju also confirmed he had reported the matter to the Criminal Investigations Department.
Investigations by the newspaper established that the post was placed by a man identified as Edwin Makunda in Kisumu.
