Last night, about 10 pupils of Asumbi boarding primary school died after their dormitory was razed down by an inferno. The 10 were reported to be among class seven and eight students attending the August holiday tuition.
Nation reports that the fire might have been caused by a power surge, after a day long blackout in the area.
As soon as word on the fire spread, parents started streaming into the catholic school but they did not find ready answers, as the nuns and teachers were said to be hiding in the convent.
Area DO, Daniel Cheruiyot, recounted counting 8 bodies. He also said that the dormitory appeared to have been locked from outside.
